Cancer prevention: 7 tips to reduce your risk

There is only one person in charge of your health and your cancer prevention strategy…It’s YOUWe are all affected by our surroundings that cannot be controlled but there are lots of ways we can reduce our cancer risk.

Take your health into your own hands and do what is in your control with these 7 simple tips:

Eat Healthy

Healthy eating is one of the most important factors in cancer prevention.

Eat more organic whole foods, low glycemic foods, high potassium foods and alkaline plant foods such as the brassica family and green veggies.

Include antioxidants, mushrooms, green tea, berries, turmeric and astragalus into your diet.

Avoid sodium, canned foods, fast food, sugar, alcohol, and reduce caffeine and your animal proteins.

Increase Your Water Intake

Start your day with one glass of water. Always carry a water bottle throughout a day. On average, each person should consume 2-3 liters of water daily.

Water facilitates nearly all chemical processes in our body. Chronic dehydration may lead to many diseases including cancer.

Get Sweat On

Did you know that exercise reduces your risk of cancer? It’s true! Try these activities three times a week:

    • Walking
    • Biking
    • Hiking
    • Swimming
    • Dancing

Reduce Stress

Stress really can take a toll on your body, so it is important to find ways to reduce your stress. Some great ways are:

    • Yoga
    • Meditation
    • Reiki
    • Reflexology
    • Deep breathing
    • Laughing

Use Natural Products

What you put on your body goes into your body and into your bloodstream, tissues and cells and your body needs to filter whatever that is and get it out of the body or it can get stuck in there and start to cause damage.

Some products to replace with healthier versions are:

    • Hair products
    • Skin products
    • Makeup
    • Hygiene products
    • Sanitary napkins
    • Body lotions
    • Nail polish

Reduce Electronic Radiation

We just can’t get away from them, the EMF’s are everywhere we go, wi-fi, cell phones, computers…Here are some tips to help reduce the radiation you are getting:

    • Don’t put the cell phone to your head
    • Turn off/unplug electronics and wi-fi router at night
    • Use a Himalayan salt lamp
    • Never put a laptop on your lap
    • Try to use wired devices rather than wireless

Get Fresh Air

Get outside at least 15 mins each day and soak up some sunshine. Open the windows at home and breathe the fresh air.

Laugh often, dance, sing and skip around like you’re a kid again. Enjoy good times with your friends and family and take time to smell the flowers.
